Thomas Gerald Silvani is a music educator with over 20 years of experience working with individuals and groups. He earned a BA in Music at University of Guelph where he was awarded the College of Arts medal for graduating at the top of his class. He then completed an MA in Music Composition from York University where he studied with guitar greats Lorne Lofsky and Brian Katz, and composer David Mott. His Masters thesis was entitled “Play! Music for Two Guitars” where he researched performance practice, drew from the spiritual traditions of Daoism, Buddhism, and yoga, and emphasized achieving flow state in musical practice and performance. He has performed as a solo guitarist and in ensembles ranging from jazz to pop. As a teacher, he is highly valued for his kind and excitable energy, and has helped countless music students discover and foster their unique musical voices. He insists a strong rhythmic understanding is a “must-have” on the path of musical learning and has helped countless amateurs achieve strong musical roots. Thomas currently spearheads U Kaboom which brings joyful music experiences to communities through ukulele & musicianship training and original arrangements of popular songs for voice, ukulele & percussion orchestra.
