About Thomas Silvani, M.A.
Thomas Gerald Silvani is a seasoned music educator and professional performer with over 20 years of experience. His approach to music is defined by a rare blend of academic excellence and real-world stagecraft.
Academic Roots & Artistry
Thomas earned his BA in Music from the University of Guelph, where he was awarded the College of Arts Medal for graduating at the top of his class. He furthered his studies with an MA in Music Composition from York University, under the mentorship of guitar greats Lorne Lofsky and Brian Katz, and renowned composer David Mott.
His Master’s thesis, "Play! Music for Two Guitars," explored the intersection of performance practice and spiritual traditions like Daoism and Buddhism. This research focused on achieving the "flow state"—a philosophy he brings to every lesson and live performance today.
A Life in Performance
Beyond the classroom, Thomas has spent decades as a professional musician, performing as a solo guitarist and in ensembles ranging from jazz to pop. Thomas creates an inviting atmosphere, blending master-level guitar work with a natural gift for storytelling and a stage presence that makes every audience member feel like a front-row guest. Whether he is performing for an intimate senior living community or a private event, his goal is to use technical mastery and rhythmic precision to build a genuine rapport with his listeners.
Education & U Kaboom
As a teacher, Thomas is highly valued for his kind and excitable energy. He believes a strong rhythmic foundation is the "must-have" for any musician and has helped countless students find their unique voices.
As the founder of U Kaboom, he reimagines popular songs for voice, ukulele, and percussion, using these creative arrangements to foster local community connections and a shared love for music-making. Through this program and his private studio, Thomas continues to strengthen South Florida’s musical landscape, turning casual listeners into active, joyful participants.
